Texas has more gun shows on the calendar than any other state, and it isn't close. That is a pleasant problem until you are trying to work out which "Austin" show is actually in Leander, which promoter runs the building you're driving to, and what happens to your carry pistol at the door. This guide maps the Texas circuit by city, venue and promoter using our calendar data (verified against official promoter schedules, snapshot of Sep 29, 2026).
The Texas circuit at a glance
- 154 upcoming listings through Dec 30, 2028: 39.1% of our national calendar.
- 26 cities, three promoters: Premier Gun Shows (80), American Gun Shows (41), Texas Gun Shows (33).
- Busiest venue: Pasadena Convention Center, with 24 listings.
- Typical format: Saturday–Sunday (131 listings); 23 run Friday–Sunday.
- Adult admission: $7 to $15, median $10, vs. a $12 national median.
- Door rules: set by the promoter, not by the carry law.
How big the Texas circuit is in our calendar
At the Sep 29, 2026 snapshot, our national calendar held 394 upcoming listings across 42 states. Texas accounts for 154 of them, or 39.1%. One state, roughly two of every five dates.
That lead is part market depth and part publishing habit: all three Texas promoters post long schedules, and one posts years out. Counts reflect what promoters had published, not every show that will happen. For the rest of the field, see our state-by-state ranking.
Don't read trends into the tail. Of the 28 listings dated in 2028, 27 are Premier Gun Shows dates; Texas Gun Shows' published schedule ends in December 2027. A thin 2028 is a publishing horizon, not a collapse; Are Gun Shows Dying? covers how far ahead promoters post. The useful window is October 2026 through December 2027: 126 listings in 15 months.
Where the shows are: the cities and venues that carry the circuit
Twenty-six cities have at least one listing, but the weight sits in a short list of buildings. Every city in our data maps to a single venue. Learn the building and you have learned the show.
| City | Listings | Venue | Promoter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pasadena | 24 | Pasadena Convention Center | Premier Gun Shows |
| Mesquite | 18 | Mesquite Convention Center | Premier Gun Shows |
| San Antonio | 13 | Alzafar Shrine Auditorium | Texas Gun Shows |
| Fort Worth | 12 | Will Rogers Center, Amon Carter Exhibit Hall | Premier Gun Shows |
| New Braunfels | 11 | New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center | Premier Gun Shows |
| Lewisville | 8 | NTX Arena | American Gun Shows |
| Temple | 7 | Frank Mayborn Civic & Convention Center | American Gun Shows |
| Humble | 7 | Humble Civic Center | American Gun Shows |
| Leander | 6 | Premier Athletic Complex | American Gun Shows |
| Waxahachie | 6 | Waxahachie Civic Center | American Gun Shows |
| Rockwall | 5 | AmeriSports | Premier Gun Shows |
| Taylor | 5 | Williamson County Expo Center | American Gun Shows |
| Buda | 5 | Central Texas Fieldhouse | Texas Gun Shows |
| Frisco | 5 | Frisco Flyers Volleyball Club | Premier Gun Shows |
| 12 other cities | 22 | Round Rock and New Caney (3 each); Bryan, Galveston, Laredo, Hondo, Lufkin and Muenster (2 each); Victoria, Luling, Tyler and Waco (1 each) | All three |
Grouped by metro (our grouping, built from the city list), three clusters carry most of the circuit:
Two naming quirks trip people up. Titles such as Austin-Leander and Houston-Humble name a region; the venue is in the second town. And Leander's Premier Athletic Complex hosts American Gun Shows, not Premier Gun Shows.
The three promoters behind our Texas listings
Every Texas listing in our data comes from one of three promoters, so three schedule pages cover everything in our Texas data.
Premier Gun Shows (80 listings)
The biggest and deepest schedule, with dates through December 2028. Premier's site says it produces The Original Fort Worth Gun Show, "est. 1972," and its About page traces that show to the early 1970s at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, when the Southside Optimist Club of Fort Worth ran it. It also runs Pasadena, Mesquite and New Braunfels, plus six smaller stops.
American Gun Shows (41 listings)
Its territory in our data: Lewisville, Temple, Humble, Leander, Waxahachie, Taylor and Muenster. Its homepage lists adults at $10, weekend passes at $15, military at $9, free entry for the first 50 veterans or military, and free entry for children 11 and under and uniformed officers, with admission "cash only at gate." Those prices were not on the schedule page our calendar verifies against, so its listings carry no published price below.
Texas Gun Shows (33 listings)
Its site describes the company as "Family owned and operated in San Antonio," and the Alzafar Shrine Auditorium there is its anchor, with 13 listings. It is the only Texas promoter in our data running three-day shows.
On size, take the marketing as marketing. Premier calls The Original Fort Worth Gun Show "ALWAYS the BIGGEST Gun Show in TEXAS." Texas Gun Shows lists "1,500 tables and booths at Legends Event Center" in Bryan and calls that "The Largest Gun Show in Texas." We have no independent table counts to referee that, and won't invent any.
The month-by-month rhythm
2027 is the only full year all three promoters have published, so it is the cleanest read on the season: 98 listings. January leads with 12 and November follows with 11. May and July bottom out at 5; every other month lands between 7 and 9. By quarter: 28, 21, 23 and 26.
The more practical number is weekend coverage. From the first weekend of October 2026 through the last weekend of 2027, 57 of 65 weekends have at least one Texas listing, and 49 have two or more. Dec 18–19, 2027, has five. Several of the eight empty weekends fall on holidays, including the Fourth of July and Christmas weekends of 2027.
Show length, start day and hours
The default Texas show is Saturday–Sunday: 131 of 154 listings. The other 23 run Friday through Sunday, all of them Texas Gun Shows events in San Antonio, Round Rock, New Caney, Bryan and Galveston.
Most of those Fridays are short. Texas Gun Shows lists San Antonio's hours as Friday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and prices the Friday "sneak peek" at $7. Its FAQ covers whether you can buy, sell or trade during the sneak peek; read it first.
Where hours are published (110 listings), Saturday opens at 9 a.m. at 78 and 10 a.m. at 32, and all 110 close Sunday at 4 p.m. Premier's Luling-Lockhart page lists Saturday 9 to 5 and Sunday 10 to 4, the same hours American Gun Shows posts. Texas Gun Shows' visitor page now lists longer Bryan hours, including a 5 p.m. Sunday close.
Admission, discounts and parking
Of the 154 Texas listings, 110 publish an adult price. Those prices run from $7 to $15, with a median of $10. The national median in our calendar, across 156 listings with a published adult price, is $12. Texas weighs heavily on that figure: 110 of the 156 are Texas listings. For the wider picture, see what admission costs across America.
The $7 floor is the Friday sneak peek at Texas Gun Shows' three-day events in San Antonio, Round Rock and Galveston, where Saturday or Sunday costs $15 and all three days cost $20; the site notes that a Saturday ticket includes Sunday. Premier's prices vary by building: $10 a day or $15 for the weekend at Pasadena, $12 or $17 at Mesquite, $15 a day at The Original Fort Worth Gun Show, and a $10 weekend pass at New Braunfels.
Discount tiers are a Premier habit. All 78 listings with a published free-child tier, and all 46 with a military or veteran tier, are Premier Gun Shows dates: children 11 and under and uniformed peace officers free, military $9 at Pasadena, Frisco, New Braunfels and Waco, and $1 off at Rockwall.
Parking: 92 listings record it as free, 18 as mixed and 44 say nothing. Texas Gun Shows advertises "Free parking at every Texas Gun Shows event."
Carry law and door rules: what HB 1927 changed and what it didn't
House Bill 1927, the Firearm Carry Act of 2021, took effect Sept. 1, 2021. The Texas Department of Public Safety describes it as letting anyone 21 or older who may legally possess a firearm carry a handgun without getting a license first. One dated caveat: the Texas State Law Library notes that a 2022 federal ruling, Firearms Policy Coalition v. McCraw, bars prosecuting 18-to-20-year-olds under that limit on age alone, and DPS no longer denies them a License to Carry for their age. The Texas State Library and Archives Commission summarizes the limits: carry may be open in a holster or concealed; some premises stay off-limits by statute, including courts and polling places at certain times; and the law added a posted-sign option for barring firearms: a sign at each entrance, in English and Spanish, with wording the statute prescribes.
What the law does not do is set a gun show's entry rules. Premier Gun Shows says all firearms coming into a show "must be unloaded and zip-tied" and that "The only loaded firearms permitted in the show are the duty weapons of licensed law enforcement officers." Texas Gun Shows' visitor page says "All firearms, including personal carry firearms, must be unloaded, zip-tied, and secured." American Gun Shows says its shows are posted in accordance with Penal Code sections 30.05, 30.06 and 30.07, the sections that govern those notices.
Dealers at the show are still dealers. Federal rules let a licensee do business at a gun show in the same state as its license, count the show space as part of the licensed premises, and require the license or a copy to be posted there (27 CFR 478.100).

A table-side checklist for Texas shows
- Confirm the date on the promoter's own schedule the week of the show.
- Navigate to the venue, not the event title.
- Read the promoter's firearm rule before you load up.
- Plan for minors. Premier says attendees under 18 must be accompanied by a parent; American Gun Shows says no one under 18 is permitted without a parent or guardian.
- Look for the posted license at a dealer's table. A licensee doing business at a show must post its license or a copy.
- Write down the model, condition and asking price, then price the same item new and delivered before you pay.
- Leave the dog at home unless the promoter says otherwise. None of the 154 Texas listings in our data publishes a pet policy.
Buying new instead: what to look for online or at a dealer
Sometimes the smart move is to write down the price and walk. New from a dealer or online can win on warranty, returns or availability; our gun show vs. online pricing comparison covers the math. Compare these before you commit:
- Delivered price, not sticker price. For a firearm bought online, add shipping, the transfer fee your receiving dealer charges and sales tax. According to ATF, a purchase from an out-of-state source must be transferred through a licensed dealer in your state of residence, so that fee is part of the price.
- The manufacturer's warranty, on the maker's own site. Check whether it covers only the original purchaser and whether registration is required.
- Return terms. Ask who pays return shipping and whether a restocking fee applies, in writing.
- What "new" means on the listing. Factory new in the box, with the manufacturer's paperwork, is a different claim from "unfired" or "like new."
- Tax on safety gear. The Texas Comptroller lists gun safes, gun lock boxes, barrel locks, trigger locks and firearm safety training manuals among items exempt from sales tax. Check the receipt wherever you buy.
Sellers come in a few kinds: independent gun shops, sporting-goods chains, online retailers that ship to a local dealer and, for accessories, manufacturers selling direct. Each handles special orders, returns and warranty claims differently.
Common questions
How many gun shows are in Texas?
Our calendar data (verified against official promoter schedules, snapshot of Sep 29, 2026) holds 154 upcoming Texas listings from Oct 2, 2026, through Dec 30, 2028. That is 39.1% of the 394 listings in our national calendar, and it reflects what promoters had published, not every show that will happen.
Which Texas city hosts the most gun shows?
Pasadena, with 24 listings, all at the Pasadena Convention Center. Mesquite (18) and San Antonio (13) follow.
How much does a Texas gun show cost to get in?
Published adult prices in our Texas listings run from $7 to $15, with a median of $10, against a national median of $12. Weekend and three-day passes cost more, so check the promoter's page for the specific show.
Can I carry a loaded gun into a Texas gun show?
Texas's 2021 Firearm Carry Act lets eligible adults 21 and older carry a handgun without a license (a 2022 federal ruling limits enforcing that age floor against 18-to-20-year-olds), but promoters set entry rules. Premier Gun Shows and Texas Gun Shows both require firearms brought in to be unloaded and zip-tied, and American Gun Shows says its shows are posted under Penal Code 30.05, 30.06 and 30.07.
Are any Texas gun shows open on Friday?
Some are. In our data, 23 of 154 Texas listings run Friday through Sunday, all of them Texas Gun Shows events. Its San Antonio show lists a Friday sneak peek from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at $7.
Do kids get into Texas gun shows free?
At many shows, yes. All 78 Texas listings that publish a free-child tier are Premier Gun Shows dates, where children 11 and under get in free, and American Gun Shows' homepage also lists children 11 and under as free.
