Texas is not merely first; it is in another statistical universe in our current database. That is partly real market depth and partly data transparency. Premier, American Gun Shows and Texas Gun Shows publish long official schedules, including dates far into 2027 and 2028.

Virginia and Pennsylvania form a second tier

Showmasters, C&E and several regional promoters create a dense Mid-Atlantic calendar. That region also has large convention-center shows and collector-oriented events, so a visitor can often find multiple options within a few weekends.

The ranking is also a transparency index

A state can look quiet because small clubs post dates late, rely on social media or publish flyers that are hard to verify. That is why we refuse to turn the table into a claim that Texas has exactly some multiple of another state's real-world show count. It tells us what is currently verified and future-published.

What comes next

The next version should normalize by population, land area and publication horizon. Shows per million residents would highlight states with unusually dense local cultures. Shows per 10,000 square miles would describe how practical the calendar is for road travel.

For now, the takeaway is simple: if you live in Texas, the problem is choosing a weekend. In many other states, the problem is catching dates as soon as smaller promoters publish them.

Texas is also a test case for what good source publishing does

Multiple Texas promoters maintain structured schedules, event pages and repeat venues. That makes verification cheaper and faster. A state with the same real-world activity but only Facebook flyers and last-minute posts would look much thinner in a verification-first database.

This has an important implication for promoters: publishing clean dates is marketing. Every structured, crawlable event page increases the chance that calendars, search engines and assistants can surface the event accurately.

Border strategy matters more than state rank

People do not attend shows according to state boundaries. A resident of northern Kentucky may care more about Cincinnati-area dates than shows on the other side of Kentucky. Someone in eastern Pennsylvania can reasonably watch New Jersey and New York. A national map should therefore prioritize radius search and drive time over state-only rankings.

The map can become a market-intelligence product

Once the data is deep enough, we can identify underserved metros, promoter overlap, weekends with unusually heavy competition and venues that host multiple promoters. Those patterns are useful not only to attendees but to exhibitors deciding where to book tables.
