How to Verify a Gun Show Date Before You Drive
A field checklist for checking event listings without chasing rumors.
Find the primary source
Treat a calendar listing as a starting point, then follow the organizer or venue source listed for the event. Confirm the event name, venue address, and exact calendar date. A reposted flyer can be old even when it appears near the top of search results.
Check the status, not just the date
Look for an announcement about cancellations, postponements, venue changes, or holiday adjustments. If a source has not been updated recently, contact the organizer before traveling any significant distance.
Verify the basics
Confirm doors-open time, admission arrangements, accessibility, parking, and venue rules. Event policies vary by location and organizer; do not assume last year’s rules still apply.
Save a fallback plan
Keep the organizer contact information handy and bookmark the relevant weekend calendar or state directory. A quick check on departure morning can save a long wasted drive.
See an error? Help correct it
If an event has changed or the listing is wrong, use Submit or correct a show with a source link. We do not invent event dates or guarantee that any listing remains unchanged.
